As part of her LoveYourMemory cognitive health awareness campaign, Dr. Evans is offering free in-person cognitive testing at her medical practice in Clearwater, FL every Saturday in August, September, and October 2022 (with some exceptions). The testing is scheduled in 15-minute intervals from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. You must schedule your in-person testing on-line at the bottom of this page. If you arrive late, you may need to reschedule. Please complete your waiver prior to your appointment time.f
Given the nature of the test and the goal of raising awareness, Dr. Evans is limiting testing to individuals 55 to 75 years of age who DO NOT carry a medical diagnosis of Alzheimer's, dementia, or any type of memory impairment. Please bring information confirming your age at the time of testing.
Dr. Evans will request the following information: your name, date of birth, years of education, and your primary occupation. If you use glasses for reading, please bring them to the test. The test will be administered on an iPad. Instructions will be given and then repeated. You will have a few practice questions before the test begins.
You will be tested on how quickly and how accurately you can identify a black and white image on the iPad screen as an animal or "not an animal". If you think the image iis an animal, you will tap on the right side of the screen. If you think the image is "not an animal," you will tap on the left side of the screen. For approximately 5 minutes these black and white images will pop up and you will need to respond as quickly as possible.
At the end of your test, Dr. Evans will give you a short report. It will identify your cognitive health as GOOD, AT RISK, or IN NEED. She will also provide some tips on lifestyle measures that can improve your cognitive health.
GOOD means you are "good to go." Continue with healthy lifestyle measures and continue routine monitoring of your cognitive health. AT RISK means you probably need to review your lifestyle measures and possibly make healthy changes to improve your cognitive health. Again, continue routine monitoring of your cognitive health. IN NEED means you definitely need to make changes to improve your cognitive health. You should also speak with your medical provider (doctor, nurse practitioner, etc) about additional testing that may be able to identify medical conditions that may be affecting your cognitive health.
Dr. Evans asks that you help spread the word. LoveYourMemory is a grass-roots campaign designed by Dr. Evans to raise awareness about cognitive health. Share this website and her social media with family, friends, and loved ones. If you're willing to share your testing experience right after you have tested, give Dr. Evans a few words and a smile that she can record and share on her social media.
Currently, Dr. Evans is able to offer free cognitive testing "in-person" at her Clearwater, FL office location (see map below). Hopefully, she will be able to offer this testing "virtually" with Zoom or a similar platform in the future.
Dr. Evans is providing free cognitive testing as a service to the community.
